Christmas is coming

Dec

Christmas is coming and I sure am getting into the mood! We’ve got Christmas lights up in the office (they are supposed to be red but are mostly purple/pink) and Christmas music is playing in my MP3 player right now …

It’s mostly old stuff (Nat King Cole, Bing Crosby, Dean Martin, Johnny Mathis, Perry Como, etc.) but that’s what I really like. It reminds me of Christmas as a kid, when my folks would put on old Christmas records and I would just sit and listen in the living room with the Christmas tree lights flickering on the ceiling. I would just lie there and watch the patterns of lights as they moved and changed … (sigh)

You just can’t ever go back again, can you?

It could be worse. Things have been pretty slow and laid back here at work.

As I look around the office, I see Clay (my boss) playing Solitaire, JT is working on a VB project he has been piddling with for a couple of days, Chris is surfing car stuff with his head phones on (I guess my Christmas music is too old for him, even though he is older than I am!), and Ernie is probably working hard on his Sims.

If only every day could be this easy … (of course, then I would never leave work.)

We also had a great feast (of snack-stuff) earlier up at the business office: it included cheese-dip, sausage balls, cream cheese dips, Chex-Mix ® and some sort of artichoke hearts, spinach, parmesean cheese, pastry-type thing. Man, it was good!

After that we started working on a project of putting together a great big new printer that we purchased. It’s really a big, multi-function printer that was got REALLY dirt cheap. Actually, I think we bought three of them because they were so cheap.

After we got that all put together, we went back to not-breaking stuff mode. I took a few calls from folks about the web site, the archives and a few other things.

Then we (JT and I) went over to Walter’s office to help Karla get his Eudora address book recovered from his laptop.

Well, it has been quite a nice day. Glad things are still quiet. Hope it keeps going this way until next year!
