Corey and Jay and Lick
And speaking of ranting … I can’t believe that Corey and Jay have not had their contract picked up by Lick1063<dot>com or Lick106<point>3 or whatever they are now …
It never seems to amaze me how good radio gets lost. Ever since I started listening to radio (at least for music or entertainment, not news) it’s not very long before someone decides that the format that I’ve been enjoying isn’t a very good format and it’s time for a change.
In other words, when I find a radio station that I enjoy purely for its entertainment value, it will inevitably fail. To all the Lick-heads out there, I must say I am sorry, for I did like the C&J Show.
It seems that C&J (the only non-NPR morning program worth listening to) is no more. And will be no more. Anymore.
This is due to the fact that Equity Broadcasting decided to sell KLEC, 106.3 on your FM dial in Little Rock (previously known as “Lick 1063 <dot> com”), to Archway Broadcasting and Archway decided they didn’t want to pick up Corey and Jay’s tab, er, contract.
Fortunately for Corey and Jay, Equity has agreed to keep honor the pre-existing contract (in other words, Equity is still paying them) but C&J are no longer on the air.
Instead of C&J’s lively banter, occasionally irreverant humor and always funny bits of off-the-wall humor, we are treated to Trent “Tree-Top” Tyler’s brand of morning program. I know that he is knew at the whole morning thing, but I DO miss C&J.
In addition, I am worried that TTTT will become like the HORRIBLE, AWFUL, MAKE-ME-WANT-TO-EAT-MY-SHORTS morning program of Tommy Smith and gang. I refuse to listen to those mouth-breathers and their tired 70s music. What a waste of FCC bandwidth … but I digress.
It turns out that Lick/TTTT is going to continue one of C&J’s morning bits, the Head-Up-Yer-Ass-Headlines. That’s kind of shame that they (Lick/TTTT) aren’t even going to call it something different. Trent definitely needs to come up with his own shtick. I wish him well (I always liked him on Magic 105 many, many years ago and liked him as the afternoon drive DJ on Lick) but he needs to find his own niche.
So, anyway, please accept my apologies for liking the C&J Show. I was the REAL reason for its demise.
(If they take This American Life off of KUAR on Friday nights, I’m going to have to blow something up.)
